I'll almost immediately have a good salary right after I get my degree, and the best thing about it is that the whole career is still being pioneered of sorts, and no one knows the limits of nanotech. Imagine you just got a Porsche, and as you drive it out of wherever the hell you bought it, you get t-boned by an SUV. That would really suck ass, wouldn't it? And as you scream in spastic rage at the other driver, you remember that you bought a car made with MY NANOTECH, so it's alright, your car will just repair itself and look good as new in a week or two at no extra cost. Or, suppose you had a heart attack because you ate too many Big Macs. That would also suck ass. But with nanotech, doctors and other medical eggheads will be able to rapidly create a new heart for you, so you won't have to live with permanent damage, so then you won't learn anything and chances are it'll happen again and the doctors will make more money! :D Or, tiny little nano-robot things could be injected into one's body at birth, and if they aren't obliterated by the person's immune system, they could simply eliminate excess fat and other unwanted substances right then and there, so the person would never get a heart attack unless they just stuffed themselves with Big Macs 24/7. It's already been established that nanotech can fix genetic diseases, so hopefully it can bring an end to retardation (but then who will I make fun of?). Nanotech might also be able to heal a damaged brain, because nano-robot-things can be programmed to do precisely what you want them to do, unlike regular cells. And a huge problem with the US right now is that almost every single bridge was built during the great depression, so almost all of our bridges are falling apart from age, and most states don't have the money to repair a single one. Wuldn't it be great if the bridges could just repair themselves? Yeah, it fricken would be great.

If I make a breakthrough or something, I could single-handedly enter the human race into the age of nanotechnology, just like Edison did with a light bulb and electricity. Which is perfect for me, because I want people to know my name 200 years after I die. I want students to moan and flail things around as their teachers force them to do a biography on me. I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED! 8I *shakes fist*
